So here we are at yet another new year, and our second full length album is still unreleased, despite the fact that most of it was recorded back in the summer of 2023. Nevertheless, it will be released during 2026. That much is certain.

There has never really been any urgency to push out new material, but now the time has come. The album has more or less been left to decay since 2023, and it is finally time to bring it to life. Johan Bäckman at Raven Noise Studio will now do a final mix version and master the album, after which it will be sent off for release.

In terms of sound, this album is a continuation of the debut. It is fairly varied, yet firmly rooted in the same overall style. There may be similarities to Runemagick here and there, which is only natural since the songwriter is the same. At the time this album was recorded, it was uncertain whether Runemagick would continue to exist or release more music at all. Since then, the Runemagick journey has continued and new material has been released. This does not affect Unformulas in any way. Unformulas is its own entity and follows its own path.

We are fully aware that this is a very small scale underground project and unknown to many. Still, we hope that those of you who appreciated the debut, as well as new listeners, will receive this album with open minds. It has been left to mature for several years, and now it is ready.

Biography

Unformulas emerged in 2019, crawling from the formless void, a vessel of shadow born from the restless mind of Nicklas Rudolfsson. Known for his endeavors in Runemagick, The Funeral Orchestra, Gravfraktal, Sacramentum, and countless other cursed creations, this project carries his signature touch of death and riffing.

What began as a collective experiment soon rotted and reformed into a solitary endeavor, a bleak symphony orchestrated by Nicklas. The haunting voice of David Nilsson (Feral) became the project's spectral breath, dragging Unformulas deeper into its abyssal purpose.

In the cursed winter of 2020, as the world shivered beneath plague ridden skies, Unformulas began to conjure its first sessions. Drums, laid bare in early 2020, would haunt various sporadic recordings throughout the pandemic-drenched year of 2022. These fragments of sound, at first mere demos, began to fester into something greater — the skeletal remains of a full-length album and an EP. Johan Bäckman at Raven Noise Studio infused these works with necrotic clarity through his mixing and mastering.

2022 saw the lightless birth of "Post Mortem Visionary", a debut album etched with darkness and drenched in epic death. Guest contributions from shadows such as Rasmus Kvist (Gravkväde, Vomitrot) and Nir Doliner (Venomous Skeleton) lent the album its unholy weight. The artwork, conjured by Serpent Above, shrouded the release in spectral allure. Aftermath Music (LP, CD Europe) and Ablaze Productions (CD North America) became the torchbearers of this morbid opus.

In the eternal descent of 2023, Unformulas carved deeper into their journey, revealing "Spiritual Chaos Vortex", a split album (and standalone digital EP) with Swedish underground death metal conjurers Ceremonial Death. Released once more through Aftermath Music, this offering expanded the project's reach into the labyrinthine depths of chaos.

Now, beneath the veiled skies of 2023, Unformulas begins to sculpt its second full-length album. The sessions, shrouded in secrecy, unfold within the crypts of Necrotic Noise Studio in Ljungskile, Sweden. Unlike their fragmented beginnings, this endeavor aims to manifest as a cohesive spell — an invocation of death, life, and the ungraspable void. Its release is but a whisper of the distant future, with no haste to disturb its dark gestation. Perhaps, by the end of 2025, the veil shall part...

Unformulas is not merely a project — it is a long, relentless journey. Both Nicklas and David channel their full devotion into this entity, forging music they themselves crave, unbound by time or external expectation. While echoes of Runemagick may linger, Unformulas is a beast of its own making, a vessel of epic death metal carved from a distinct and untamed framework.

The future, an endless chasm of shadow and potential, will unfold in its own time, as Unformulas marches ever onward, unbound by the chains of mortality or the constraints of an ending.
